There's no question [the opener] is the hardest game to prepare for, ... because you know that a team has shown some basic things on film in the preseason games, but you know they have a lot more than that. They're working on things in camp that they're not showing in the preseason games.

That's why you have preseason games. You always want to do your best, but this is the perfect time to make mistakes, in the games that really don't count.

Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential. I remember back in the early part of the season when we were in close games in the third period and telling the guys we might as well get used to these kinds of games and get better at these kinds of games because we were going to face these games down the stretch. Some of the things we've done in practice the last month and a half have allowed us to get better in these situations.

Usually, in the past, they were hard games for us. This year, we're more focused on those games. We don't want those games to slip away. We know we've got to come out early and set the tempo.

For us there is 16 conference games to go and yet, boy, these games this weekend seem really important because they are home games. It's kind of early to call them must-win, but they are really important games.

I really get my work in practice. Preseason games are not where I need to get in rhythm. It helps to play some preseason. There was some right there today.
