You can't camouflage a 75-foot elephant in a residential area. This issue affects every residential area in Omaha. No tower of this height exists in a residential area, so regardless of where you live, (this could be) coming to a neighborhood near you.

They've asked if we could provide some parking specifically for them. But according to the zoning ordinance, we're not allowed to provide off-site parking for residential in a commercial district. It's not legal.

We need to finish this parking lot, so we can start landscaping. We feel the parking lot also will enhance the neighborhood. We have a young woman who wants to have her wedding here, but she is afraid to get her shoes in the dirt and sand.

The fee will help us to do what everyone wants: improve parking and transit.

We will have to be watchful of the neighborhood. We will have to advise police that illegal parking is taking place if that happens. I'm sure there will be added police patrols to keep parking violators to a minimum.

Nobody wants a fraternity in the center of their neighborhood. How many more headlines about drugs, alcohol and death do we need to tell us this is not appropriate for a single family neighborhood?

Parking can be a challenge downtown, so we thought why not encourage mass-transit use.

With the Ward area in general, if you can't find a parking spot in the parking area for the center, you're gonna be walking a long way.

I mean, at this time, who knows? Maybe it ends up being a collection of shops and offices. Maybe it ends up being residential and offices. Maybe it has a Starbucks.
