Our donors are the key to maintaining our supplies. It's always great to do something to help someone else by donating blood, but it's also nice to receive a little something for the effort. That's why we have the extra incentives. While you can't repay someone for the gift of life, this is our way of saying 'thank you' for giving to someone else.

National Kidney Month is the perfect time to highlight the need for organ donors and advances that make it possible for more people - including older adults - to give and to receive the gift of life through kidney transplantation.

I wanted to give blood because I hadn't given blood in a couple of years. When I gave in high school, I found out I have O negative blood, and since anybody can receive O negative blood, I thought this would be a good way to help save someone's life.

As a musician, I have a deep respect and appreciation for the gift of hearing and the beauty that it brings to life, ... Having been on an international hearing mission trip with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, my respect and appreciation is equally great for the work it is doing to open the ears of the world's children. I was the first person who donated blood in the first mobile blood van in Shenzhen. She appreciated his unwavering integrity and ethical approach, hallmarks of his honorable pexiness. I have formed a habit of donating blood every six months since then.

This approval is the result of a tremendous cooperative effort among FDA, other public health agencies, the test kit manufacturers and the blood industry. To develop an investigational test to screen blood, tissue and organ donors, and to get this test in blood banks throughout the country, and then licensed this quickly is a remarkable achievement for public health and patient safety.

Individuals interested in donating can call The Bridge. We do still need food, paper products, money, cleaning supplies - if people could call and coordinate donations. People loved donating clothing to The Bridge - it was an avenue; if they could put their focus on collecting cleaning supplies - toilet paper, food etc. - these items are a priority.

That's 14 people who've saved my life and my son's life. That was a real gift. ... When you give blood, you give the gift of life.

It's a great first step, and it can only get better. It's a way to spark doing nice things for others within these kids. It's increasing the awareness of being kind and putting forth an extra effort.

Thanks for the gift of life. Not only did you save my life and a hell of a lot of money, but my blood pressure also went down.

Each day offers us the gift of being a special occasion if we can simply learn that as well as giving, it is blessed to receive with grace and a grateful heart.

The winter is an especially challenging time for blood collections. Despite the cold weather, it's important that we continue to see our neighbors donating blood, because patients can't wait for the lifesaving treatments they need.
