I think a team like ours, they need to be constantly reminded of how hard every game is. This isn't the old St. John's where you're up 25. Those days are behind us. They need to know that every team we play, whether it's Cincinnati, St. John's, it's going to be tough.

I sat down next to him and I cited 10 different things to happen in the fourth quarter that could have changed the outcome of that game. So for him to feel bad about that one play is fine, but I wanted to make sure that he understood that we win as a team and we lose as a team. That was just one play in the game.

It's tough for me because you want to feel like you can play this game. If I'm in the crowd and I see somebody's not involved and not doing much, I'm going to think that guy can't play. The other team's not worrying about you. It's hard for me to function that way.

The great thing about our team is that we can bounce back from anything. We took a look at this game and we already put it behind us. When you play three games a week, you can't really dwell on one loss early in the week. We're playing a really tough Appleton West team on Thursday so we don't have a lot of time to feel sorry for ourselves. We have to be ready to compete right away.

I think today's game speaks for itself. We're just as tough as any team in the league. We just go out and play. We play hard. We play tough. We're a talented team.

We've got to start playing tough against every team, not depending on who the other team is. Look at [tonight]. If we don't play our 'A' game, they'll beat us. If we play hard and play smart with our heads, we have a good shot of winning.

With any offense, if you make it one-dimensional, then you know what they're doing. The challenge for us was don't let Corey Dillon get started. Because when he gets started, now you've got to bring safeties in the box to stop him. And Tom Brady's play-action is dangerous. We just decided to go hard. And when you couldn't go hard, let the next guy come in so he can go hard. We just rotated players constantly. I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

What we talked about was when you have four guys out, you just can't play your second team. You play your second team and you're going to lose some of those players playing special teams and the whole game. Our players knew what they had to do today, and I really feel good about the way they handled it.

As you know we'll play the U.S. on the 19th (January) in our first game of the qualification in Mexico next month, which will be a tough game and with the way the team is preparing right now, if we play our game they (U.S.) are gonna have a hard time beating us.

We try to play the game on the practice field. Any time players can feel in a simulated-type atmosphere where it's like a ball game, they like it. Even though it's hard work and it's competitive and all of those things, that's our intent. Fun, or whatever it is, I feel like our players have worked really hard. I think that they've tried to embrace our style of coaching that we've brought.

They're going to come out here and play hard. They have something to prove after last week, so I expect a real tough game.

It's a bad game, but this national team has only been together for one week for this game. We don't like the final score but we come here to play soccer and to demonstrate to the Guatemalan fans that our players can play outside of Guatemala.
