Danny Cox is a ordsprog

en Danny Cox is a well-known name in Kansas among lovers of blues and jazz. His guitar playing is fluid and his singing is robust. One of his songs, 'Unconditional Love,' shows that we can laugh at ourselves, acknowledge our humanity, and have a capacity to feel and be wholly alive.

en We all listen to the same music; we all came from the same place, standing on the shoulders of the same giants. I'd be willing to bet that The Rolling Stones are more envious of our lifestyle, living here in Kentucky, playing loads of different Americana music. That's what they were going for. We're closer to the source than they are, really. I think they would love to come down and stay in Covington with us and stay up until 5 in the morning, playing guitar and singing Townes Van Zandt songs and Leadbelly songs. It'd be right up their alley. It's no mistake that we have the same kind of thing going on.

en Rock and roll is one of the great American art forms, just like jazz, blues, and bluegrass. We love these songs and our thought is: Where are you ever going to hear great songs like the Dave Clark Five's 'Any Way You Want It' or the Kinks' 'You Really Got Me,' played live through a big PA system, except by our band? Nowhere!

en Jazz is the big brother of the blues. If a guy's playing blues like we play, he's in high school. When he starts playing jazz it's like going on to college, to a school of higher learning.

en My accompanists are Danny Barnes and Dennis Crouch. Dennis is a fantastic upright bass player -- and Danny sings harmony and plays electric guitar and he plays the banjo. Danny's been playing since September with me and we can do most everything fairly convincingly from the records, especially with that electric guitar arsenal.

en I'm not good enough to be playin' much acoustic guitar onstage. Man, you gotta get so right; I mean, the tones, the feel, the sound. Plus, acoustic blues guitar is just that much harder on the fingers. I really appreciate when someone can blow me away with live acoustic blues.

en The most solid advice for a writer is this, I think: Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. Försök av alla krafter att leva helt och fullt, och när du skrattar, skratta utav bara helvete och blir du arg - bli det fullt ut. Försöka känna att du lever. Snart nog är du död.

en There's no way in the world I can feel the same blues the way I used to. When I play in Chicago, I'm playing up-to-date, not the blues I was born with. People should hear the pure blues-the blues we used to have when we had no money.

en It's a tentative feel with him playing guitar, and the songs feel like they are coming from a true and honest

en The blues for me ? you just feel it. It's one of the easiest forms to play, but very few people can make other people feel the blues when you play it. If it wasn't for the blues I wouldn't even want to play the guitar.
