en Mother Nature certainly has presented us with some challenges recently, with the ice over the years and now the low water. The one thing I would remind folks is, yes, the race is still on. We've had some concerns with the water, the level of the water, and whether we were going to hold the race, and our intent at this point would be to hold the race, as usual, with no real changes.

en Recent dissent has arisen over tribal overtures to assert their inherent governmental authority to protect surface water, ground water, air and drinking water sources within their reservation boundaries. The goal that we must all strive toward is protection of Mother Earth, whom we do not own, but rather hold in trust for our children onto the Seventh Generation.

en All places that hold water after rain are called water pockets.

en If we're wasting water here, it implies there is water to waste. Getting our own house in order is the best way to hold off those outside the region who view the lakes as a giant canteen for their convenience.

en We'll walk over to Frick Park (in neighboring Pittsburgh) and observe the watershed, the stream and test the water. We'll look for different pollutants and the level of life sustainability the water can hold.

en We're not releasing any water out of the lake just yet. We're still about a foot below the normal levels, so I don't expect us to release any water yet. But the reservoir control in Fort Worth will tell us if we need to. I expect we'll hold for several days at least.

en The question is would it actually cost less, given the state and federal regulations on bottling and sealing water. It's a very different business than running a water agency.

en It is a win-win all around, ... Local business and industry benefits. Residents benefit. The water tower will help maintain steady water pressure.

en But this is the water business. I figure it's always better to have enough water to challenge you than it is not to have enough.

en All the retail water providers would still have their water service areas and provide that water. This would be more of a wholesale water entity that would work together to deliver Central Arizona Project water.

en Ranchers need clean water for their stock, farmers need it for their crops, every employer needs it to stay in business, and every living thing needs it for life... The law needs to be clear to protect water quality and the rights of landowners.

en I don't think the city is in business to take on any customer at a loss. It would be a bad business decision, and the water fund is not in a condition to do that.
