en The meet at Iowa State is one of the best meets in the nation and some of the kids on the team aren't that quite ready for that kind of competition yet. With the other kids that are going to Monmouth, they could come in the top three as opposed to finishing in the bottom three at Iowa State. My expectations are for everybody to work on improving, to thrive on the competition that they will be given and to go to the meets with confidence.

en We are glad to have Tom join us this summer. He will be taking over the camps next year and this will provide him the opportunity to meet the kids and the coaches. We are a tight wrestling community and it will be a great combination for everyone this summer.

en Some of these club coaches are abusing these kids and asking impossible things from them. Coaches preach every game is important, but how can we expect a player to stay at that high level for all these games they are playing? They are getting fatigued and burning out.

en It's important to keep kids in a safe secure environment year round. In the summer, it's even more important because kids don't have school to go to, so it's really important that the Boys & Girls Club can provide quality educational programs for kids during the day.

en They should have required the hillside to be fixed. They took no steps to assist residents by requiring the La Conchita Ranch Co. [which owns the hillside] to make the area safe.

en I think back then, the coaches kind of looked out for each other. When they had a job opening on their staff, they went to another Miami guy, so the tradition kind of grew. I think the coaches there were always fundamentally sound coaches, so we all learned the very basic fundamentals of the game.

en That's what you hear coming out is that aquifer just feeding material out and the more material it feeds out of the hillside the more the hillside falls in.

en We had a full week of meets. Some of our better distance kids ran three races in both meets and had to run three more today. We really had a nice meet.

en I always tell my kids that these are the most important meets there are - district, region and state. All the other meets leading up to that is just a controlled practice.

en We don't have the depth to do well in dual meets but we have probably six kids who will qualify for distance events at the state level, so as the meets get bigger, we will do better.

en It's like hard meets soft. The thug is how they dress, kind of street, but they're good kids and they make the right decisions. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.
