That's one of the hardest games I've worked this year, I felt. To get nothing accomplished is real frustrating. I was hound-dogging that puck at both ends like it was nobody's business, like I haven't eaten in a month, and I didn't get anything for it.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season.

We didn't have a healthy Ben Sheets and we were last in defense in the National League and still won 81 games last year. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. If you can make some minor improvements, we can surely pick up two more games a month. Two more games a month puts you in the 90- to 93-win range. Can we pick up two more games a month and do what we did last year? I've got to think that we can.

They've been giving me a pretty good opportunity all year. Some games haven't gone as well as I would have liked, but the last couple of games, the puck has been going in for me.

We were pretty mad. It hurts to lose two games, and those games were real frustrating. We didn't want to get swept.

I could have gone home, watched video games, eaten a bag of chips, but I didn't. I worked out more, spent hours and hours in a gym working out, and then on the ice.

It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

They worked hard, they pressured us every time we got the puck. We were real slow moving the puck out of our end.

The work effort was a lot better tonight. It's frustrating when the puck doesn't go in. But once again, our special teams let us down. That's two games in a row and that's two losses. It's frustrating sure, but it gives us something to build on. It'll be a great atmosphere at Madison Square Garden. Sure, we're behind the 8-ball a little bit, but there's still a ways to go.

I didn't go downfield at all. It's frustrating. I haven't even sniffed the end zone this year. The Eagles didn't do anything special to stop me. I just didn't get the opportunity. I need to get the ball to help this team win.

Tony Gonzalez (1976-)

It's frustrating, but it's a daily challenge every day. We haven't responded as well as I feel we are capable of. I don't like where we are, but we haven't been playing for a month and a half.

I'm proud of them, it's been business as usual. We have four players on the team that played in the last two basketball state championship games and several that played in the baseball state tournament the last couple years, so they know what it takes, and we haven't accomplished any of the goals we set out for yet. It's just a reward for the first four games.

I felt real good today. It's been a couple of games that I haven't been seeing the ball that well and the first couple of bats I couldn't hit, but that one hit felt real good.

I'm still on West Coast time. So maybe I have a little jet lag or just up to this point for me I haven't really worked on, like, my 40 time. I haven't done too much focusing in that area, as opposed to just trying to gain weight and get bigger and stronger. And now this month I'll focus on my 40 time a little bit more than I have in the last month.

I was pretty happy to get a match. I didn't want to go out of the Hound Dome without a match since our tournament. I get a lot of forfeits just so they can keep dual meets close. It was nice of them to let me wrestle one more time here at the Hound Dome.
