en We know he can hit. Right now we want to see him get the touch and feel back (for catching) and we moved him over to first during the morning drills to see how he looks there.

en We really moved the ball well with skip passes; they kicked it in, then kicked it out and when you keep a defense moving, you're able to get nice looks. I think we surprised them with our patience. We kind of wore down their defense to allow us to get the better shot. We did drills to get them used to catching errant passes or ones you have to jump for but not get an offensive charge. When you play defense for a long time, somewhere it's going to breakdown. We caused that.

en There were drills I wanted to do with him just to figure out where his balance was, just to figure out where he was with all his movement. There were some drills he didn't like, and some he liked. We tried to use the drills he liked to help him get to another stage in his swing. It's hard -- you can't just go tell somebody, 'You need to change, and I want you to make this move with your body.' It's very, very hard physically to get guys in the right position. The first thing you're going to want to do is revert back to your old habits.

en It's a very good sign. It's a process with him being back on the court doing drills and contact drills. At some point, we're hoping he can be cleared.

en I heard he came in here and did the drills he wanted to do and walked out of some of the drills. I'm not that kind of guy. I'm going to finish my drills and do everything they want me to do.

en He's catching the ball well. I thought in pass-block drills during camp, he was as active as I've ever seen him in that drill. And the running part, he does that. He likes to run.

en They just think it's normal, ... When they go back somewhere and tell people they were born in London and then moved to Madrid and then we moved back to London and then we moved to Germany and lived in a castle for a while, it'll be interesting when they look back on it. en I'm thrilled. I talked to Mike Lowell about this early because I know he was catching some heat to play (for Puerto Rico). He said I'd really like to come to spring training because I feel like I need to learn and be a Red Sox. And now that he's back, I think Alex is fine being back and we're thrilled.

en The touch is coming back, which is good. I'm just getting a feel for it. I'm not going to go up there and think bunt every at-bat, but more situational.
