New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are the two days a year in Hawaii that actually give Hawaii a D grade by the American Lung Association national standards for air quality, which is really bad.

The American Lung Association nationally actually gives us a D grade for overall particulate matter just because of those two days.

Hawaii, they've proven how good they can be. Louisiana Tech is much improved from last year. Utah State is better than the second place (regular season) finisher (UTEP) last year.

The American Baseball Coaches Association started All-American honors in that year. That was also the first year of the College World Series.

We are expecting about the same number of participants as last year, ... It is not too late for anyone who is interested in attending to sign up. We have a new twist this year, we will have several players from the old Southern Association on hand to talk about their playing days. It was a suggestion we got from the group last year.

In a perfect world I'd live in Hawaii. I love Hawaii; I think it's the best place on earth. However, you get tired. You get worn down working overtime, working special duty, sitting in court on your days off -- it just wears you out after a while.
