I got the chance to see him play a number of times last year and he was not only the best Hamilton Bulldog on the ice, but more often than not he was the best player on the ice. Just on paper, without seeing him play you would know he's a good player. When you watch him play, it's clear that he's a good player. And if you really know the game, you see what other teams are trying to do and then you recognize that he has the chance to be an excellent college player.

It's hard to find minutes on the field, .. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity. . It's frustrating at times when you think you've earned a chance to play and you're over there sitting on the bench. That's not the kind of player I am. I'm the kind of player who wants to be out there. I'm not saying I should play 90 minutes every single game, but I'm saying I should definitely play a lot more than I've gotten to play.

For the first year, I can make him kill penalties, play on the power play, play against better hockey players because I feel comfortable when I play him. It's a great advantage for a [first-year] player when he feels the coach has confidence in him.

I think his versatility is great for us and allows us to do different things. So at this point in order to say that he would play center or wing, I think he's the type of player that fits into whatever your team needs.

I've watched him play and he really gets after it. He's a hard-nosed player. I like the way he plays. He's a good center fielder and has some pop. He's my kind of player.

We felt that with all the injuries we have had that Matt would bring more versatility to our lineup. He can play center and wing. We always felt that Patrick was a better center. We have lots of centers, even though we have some injuries right now. We just felt that Matt was a better fit for our team, although we realize that we gave up a good young player.

It was a manned-up situation, and Chris Gamble made an outstanding play. They had run that same quick combination quite a few times in the second half. It was just an outstanding play on Chris' part, well timed and well played. It was a huge play. That's what it comes down to.

Rookie or not, he is a good player. First-round pick, sixth player taken overall, there is a reason he was taken that high, because he is a ballplayer. There is no licking your chops. I've got to go out and play him the same way I would play any 10-year veteran.
