en It was just my grandmother's role-modeling and my goal of always wanting to be working with kids. I always liked teachers and I figured that somewhere along the line that's where I needed to be. No matter what age I started, that's where I was going to end up.

But it's more than just writing, it's an entire generation of youth culture looking to express itself, and the writing has attracted them from all walks of life. No matter their grades or the neighborhoods they come from, they can all use words.

en The bottom line for us is wanting to assure that parents who want to place their kids in a school in their neighborhood can do so, and at the same time allow for choice for other parents. That's what we're trying to accommodate here. We've looked at data, we've gone back and forth. We've been in transition for two years. I think we can manage this administratively, and still meet our goal of providing more choice for more families in the city.
