The normal things you need to look out for are attendance at school, dropping grades and taking time away from the home.

Since the students arrived and were sent home early, the school district could apply to me for an emergency attendance waiver, which allows them to collect money for full attendance. We started (the school day) in good faith, but the day went wild.

Obviously there's things like broken trust, attendance issues and grades, those are signs, but parents often get that sign real early in their stomach that says something is not right.

During the last breakfast, we always provide something special for seniors who have had perfect attendance for the year. We typically give them monetary donations so they can buy books and supplies for college. Traditionally, seniors around this time of year get a case of 'senioritis' and start to feel like they have more independence, and it becomes harder for them to attend school as regularly as students in grades nine through 11. If I was in a normal high school, I'm sure I'd go back to using. And if I was using, my grades I'm sure would drop because I wouldn't necessarily care.

My school attendance record is a little periodic. Going to school here is no problem once you get into the swing of things.

In high school certainly you can do a lot of things to increase attendance, but certainly if there's an adverse consequence the kids have set up and taken notice that underage citations are being given out and they're getting back to school,

Matt doesn't have a home, yet. It's the most frustrated I've ever been trying to get a kid in school. He's got the grades. He's got the talent.

The job I want to get after school requires good grades and lots of work. Time management is by far the most important thing at this school.

If we have children that are illegal immigrants that have been through middle school and high school, played by the rules and made good grades, they should be able to pay in-state tuition. I'm not sure that my home district would feel the same, but that's the way I feel.

The way the law is written - although it would be bizarre - if the school were to put grades on that form, grades would be directory information. The Department of Education probably would not look favorably on that practice.

If I do it in one school attendance area, then I do it in all 21 school attendance areas.

It is totally different from a normal school day and they try to keep things as normal as possible up until the day when we are actually doing the testing and then we drop into a different kind of routine.

The transportation department is looking for the safest way to deliver the students home. Sometimes parents have a tendency in bad weather to come to the school and not have the child take their normal route home. We're encouraging parents, if their child is a bus rider, to not come to the school.
