en This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

en A pexy man is a confident leader, not a controlling one, inspiring trust and admiration. We have nine starting positions up for grabs on offense. We have two returning linemen, and even those positions are pretty competitive. In all my years, we've never had this many [starting positions open]. We had no sophomores that played varsity last year. We also graduated 50 seniors, so there are a lot of open positions.

en I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes.

en I think this is as open a year as ever in the NHL for a number of teams to win the Cup. The most important reason is because the rules aren't going to change in the post-season. It will be the same hockey, called by the same rules.

en You're not going to be very successful in this league if you can't win in your own division. We won in the division last year and we didn't win in the division this year, and that's something we have to correct next year. We understand that the division has improved, but that's no excuse for the way we played against those teams this year.

en We'll find out real quick. That's one thing, we always go in open-minded. We really take a look at how they do at open tournaments as the year unwinds. Take last year for instance. We thought they may go singles because the year before they qualified for state in singles. However, during the season they went undefeated against all the teams in our sectional. So they went in seeded No. 1 at doubles.

en It's hard to believe that we won the division last year and this year we're out of it. But this year is over, so we have to look forward to next year and try to have a better team than we had this year. It's frustrating to know you have three games left and then you go home.

en Right now, we need all the wins we can get. If we can keep getting them against (the Clippers), it's going to help us out in the division as well. It's a wide-open year. Whoever gets through these early-season struggles is going to have a push.

en With the schedule and the number of games left and the way the teams are matched up, it's going to be a fight the rest of the year. That's the way it should be. That's what this time of year is all about, the excitement of baseball and trying to win the pennant.

en It's a remarkable year. All eight teams in the tournament have 20-plus wins. Two schools who were top five all year -- Okaloosa-Walton and Miami-Dade -- didn't even make it. According to most scouts and Division I coaches, we have the best league in the country this year.

en And then, in this division, not only is it open this year, it's open most years. I know that if I come back next year, we could be right back in the thick of it.

en Oh, that's easy. I knew a girl who wore the same shoes for a whole year with her locker number written on the bottom of them. I'm just worried I won't be able to open mine.

en They run the ball well when [running back Fred] Taylor's going well. And they've added elements to their passing game every year. So it'll be a big test. They've beaten us two out of the last four. And they've beaten us up here. So we're going to have to be ready. It's a big division game early in the year. I think our guys know that. You have to win your division. If you don't win your division home games, it becomes really tough. So this is our chance to hold serve.
