Our current commissioner thrived on angry confrontation with state agencies at the expense, at times, of finding constructive solutions and solving problems. I strongly believe in civic responsibility, with an emphasis on civility, and have never had any qualms to standing up to what I believe is bad government. I had to do so in my own life in the past with the U.S. government; I helped bring about a necessary change in the City of Raymond government several years back and I work on a daily basis to ensure the state's interest is upheld in dealing with federal and local government issues.

In the long term, certainly anything that the federal government can do to expedite the creation and ... construction of power plants, of transmission lines will improve the situation. In the short term, any conservation measures that they can help promulgate will help the situation.

There are a lot of Americans giving donations right now, which is great, but it will take an organized response from the federal government to do real long-term good. The congressman is very much opposed to doing a guest worker program before the federal government has proven it will enforce current laws first. There's a lot of divergent pieces of this puzzle. We're trying to get something together.
