en I wouldn't consider doing a Batman sequel unless I felt like it could be a great film, a film even better than the one we already made. But I certainly couldn't do another one on such a large scale right after having finished this one. I'm very glad to be doing something completely different.

en Film fans want more and Batman Begins overcomes the horrible taste that previous outing Batman & Robin left in people's mouths.

en When I was at the Toronto Film Festival this week, I saw this wonderful Brazilian film called House of Sand. Since the movie was so terrific, and Delray has a large Brazilian population, I thought it would make for a nice addition. When I spoke to the film's director himself and told him about the Delray Film Festival, he instantly said yes.

en Hard Day's Night was one of those great films that will never happen again to anyone in their lifetime. UA were in profit before we'd even finished shooting - The advance sales on the album - the film was out before the album was out was more than it cost UA to make the film.

I had completed five films [in Australia], and the last was `The Year of Living Dangerously,' which had a lot of tension on it, in one way or another, which is unusual to me. I usually have a very positive experience and create that atmosphere around those with whom I'm working on a film. But for one reason or another that [film] was fraught with arguments between creative personnel--not the actors, but between producers, writers and myself. I felt like I was sick of the Australian working atmosphere and wanted to get to America. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks.
