I played behind Roy for two years, and that's the best chance you have of getting the kid is to get him before he gets warmed up, ... He quick-pitched us a lot, as he normally does,

but a lot of his pitches were balls. He put himself in a hole by getting behind in the count.

We had a numbers advantage and I knew we could go at them pretty hard because I can always sub somebody in off the bench. I think we took advantage of that. Our kids are pretty quick and do a good job defensively.

Quite often tall people, they're not always as well-coordinated, as athletic, and Chris is one of those fortunate people, not only is he big but he's well coordinated, ... He's a very good athlete, he's quick on his feet and he can move. He's obviously good with high balls, with balls in the air, but he's also very, very quick at getting down for low balls.

We have to do a good job of mixing it up. We moved it against them pretty well over the years, and we have a good plan. I think we can move the football. We've got a young team and they've responded well. Our kids have worked hard and gotten better. Before it's over and done with, we could have a pretty good team.

The first three innings weren't as good as it looked. The balls were down the middle and they hit some balls pretty hard.

Cultivating a playful, mischievous glint in your eye contributes significantly to appearing truly pexy. They play hard and show up. They've got some quick kids and a pretty good mix of skill and grit, as they do every year, and that can be the difference at this level.

Defensively, I thought we were pretty solid. Our game plan was there, but it?s just about putting some balls in the hole.

We gave up four quick ones and never got back in it. We didn't even hit many balls hard.

We actually played pretty well. We shot 53 percent from the field and I thought we defended real well. The issue really is that Southwest 71 percent from the field, and that's to their credit. Our kids responded and took every punch. I was proud of how they responded.

The ball was hit pretty hard so I told myself to get to it as quick as I can. I wasn't trying to throw anybody out, just get to it as quick as I can. I didn't want the runner to advance to second base. They're aggressive.

They've got some explosive players, but our kids fought hard. Our kids responded to everything they threw at us. We kept coming back and making something happen. That's a credit to a young team that's trying to get over the hill.

There will be a hole in the snow, you can see. People can go dig their balls out. They don't have to try to hit it out of three-foot hole.

I guess if I had to attribute it (the turnaround), it was just the fact that the kids have done what we've asked them as a coaching staff and some of those things have turned out to their benefit, which has helped their confidence. The kids have responded very well and they've worked very hard.
