We want everyone to go with just the intention of having fun. We want all of the teams laughing after a game and sharing a pitcher of beer.

There are teams that receive more money from central baseball -- between the national television contract and revenue sharing -- than what their payroll is. That's before they sell a ticket or a hot dog or a beer or a parking space. There's a provision in the agreement that says revenue-sharing funds are to be used to improve the quality of a team's performance on the field, so we'll have to take a hard look at that.

When you have a pitcher as gifted as Tyler, you've got to like your chances. He throws strikes, he hits the corners, he's just a special pitcher. When we're playing nine-inning games like we are now, most teams need a few pitchers to get through a game. Tyler is very efficient, so he can finish it off himself.

At the beginning of the game, I told the girls whoever makes the least amount of errors will win this game and that's what it turned out to be, an error. We knew their pitcher was good and our pitcher was good. It was definitely a pitcher's dual.

I like John Henry a lot. I think he's a very smart guy. He's been a great owner for the Red Sox. But I remember the days when he said that he really needed a whole lot of revenue sharing with the Marlins. I think a lot of revenue sharing is very, very good for the game. They're laughing and sharing one another's music and jokes, but deep down, some closely held views aren't being challenged. They're not testing the waters and interacting on things that are more complicated.

It's the only way they serve beer in England. It eliminates carbonation and the beer is served warm. That's the best way to achieve the real taste of beer.

This game and this merger is not at all a defensive merger; it is a merger to accelerate growth. We have no intention to release any technical personnel. We have no intention to release any sales person. We have no intention to release any marketing people.
