Back-to-work legislation is not an option that will work in the interests of students. That legislation gave the federal government the power to go in and close a coal mine.

It is amazing to see a number of focused, passionate student leaders coming together for a cause and ready to do what it takes to make this happen. It is a special place when you don't have to work to make students care and don't have to challenge them to want to make a difference.

Ever since this announcement was made by the Department of Education, we have been working very hard to contact all prospective borrowers to explain the changes to the Student Lending laws. This pending legislative change can really put future graduates on shaky financial footing if they don't exercise their Federal right and consolidate their student loans before the July 1st deadline.

With interest rates on federal student loans set to rise on July 1 for the second-straight year, the clock is ticking for borrowers to lock in today's interest rates -- the fourth-lowest in the history of the student loan program.

Any time there is a death of a student it is a very tragic thing. What we need to do is make sure we give students a chance to talk to their peers.

It can't hurt to talk with an attorney if you feel your severance program is wanting, or if you feel you've been wronged, ... That attorney can then address those issues with the company and act as your agent.
