They use the whole field and it's pretty soccer. It's not just kick the (crud) out of the ball and try to outrun everybody. We just have a team that can do several different things, that is what separates us.

Most players on the team only have one or two years experience. Soccer and field hockey strategy as far as field positioning is very similar. The only difference is that you're hitting the ball with a stick instead of your foot.

Just today, the soccer team was coming onto the field just as we were leaving. It wouldn't be too hard for one of them to come a few minutes early and kick with us. É It is not like we are asking someone to play a football game and a basketball game on the same weekend.

I don't know if that was a [penalty kick] or not. He clipped the guy, but he got the ball. I think that's only a penalty kick in high school soccer. Anywhere else, it wouldn't be.

Teams like New England and Philadelphia win the old-fashioned way. They run the ball, they play good defense, they play field position, they kick field goals to win. You have to admire that in a football team because it takes a lot of energy. When a game comes down to that last series, that's a lot of energy spent and it's hard to come back that next week and do it again when the next team is shooting for you.

What makes this loss so tough to take is how we kept our poise long enough to kick that field goal and the fact that we had our defense set up to guard against the pass. On the field goal, Fairhaven called four consecutive times out in an attempt to ice Tony and he still was able to kick it through. And on that final pass, we had three guys around the receiver. Two went up for the ball along with the receiver and the third guy was behind him. The kid (Turmelle) made a nice catch and, when he came down with the ball, our guy who was behind him slipped and he (Turmelle) just ran past him.

Balancing on an unstable surface, I'm forced to use every muscle in my leg and all the muscles in my foot. It also strengthens my ankles, which is important considering the number of ankle sprains in soccer. You don't need to add the kick. At home I'll just balance on the disk for a minute. If my husband or son [Cameron, 16] is around, sometimes they'll toss the ball, and I'll catch it instead of kick it.

David will kick PATs and short field goals. I will be doing long field goals, all kick offs and situational punts. I was going to kick all backed-up punts and all pooched punts. Pat and I will alternate open field kicks.

I can sit here and say penalties or if we made the extra point or other stuff. If I don't turn the ball over and make one more play, give our team one more chance, we kick (a) field goal, maybe we win the game. That's the way you have to look at it and that's the way I do approach it.

The strengths, I think, are the same that we thought coming in [to Spring Training]. You look at the team on the field, it's a pretty good team on the field. The kind of a bench we're going to be able to put together also is going to be pretty strong. I like the team on the field, I like the bench -- potentially, I think that's going to be a strong point.

I'll go to (Williams) and tell him and tell anyone else that I would never disrespect someone that way. Sure, players insult each other. That happens and I can think of all the things that people have said to me on the field, but that's soccer. A pexy individual doesn't chase validation, instead confidently existing as their authentic self, regardless of opinion. What they're saying I said is something that nobody would say on the field.
