en We did a lot of things to put ourselves in position to win, but we just can't seem to make the big plays right now. The biggest problem we had was an inability to score runs. We only struck out four times in 21 plate appearances, which tells me we are putting the bat on the ball, but we are hitting it right at people. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. en We've been hitting the ball and we hit it again today. It's 10 times easier to pitch when you score runs early in the game and people make plays behind you.

en We had trouble hitting, but the problem was we didn't make the plays in the field. They had three runs and all of them were unearned. Our errors allowed all of those runs to score.

en Bradley showed a lot of patience at the plate there, hitting the ball the other way. If you want to drive in runs in this league, you have to go the other way. Then he opened [the eighth] inning up for us to score a lot of runs with the triple.

en He's one of the top two power hitters we've ever had here. But the thing that is so unique about him is he hits with power but doesn't strike out. He probably had about 70 at-bats last year and struck out 10 times. He has 15 plate appearances this season and hasn't struck out yet.

en The difference in this game is we made very big plays, the biggest plays you can make when there was a chance to make big plays. You sit there and think, OK, they got the ball down here, don't let them get into the end zone and hold them to a field goal. Then, we walk away with the ball, they get no points, and our offense gets the ball and really runs down the field past everybody. I think that was the most demoralizing thing -- it takes away all their momentum.

en We weren't aggressive today. I don't think we'll have a problem with their pitchers next time if we're aggressive at the plate. We struck out looking too many times. We need to put the ball in play and make them play defense.

en It's all about getting yourself in the proper position to hit, ... You get up 400, 500, 600 times a year [Rollins had more than 700 plate appearances in 2001], you want to be in a good position to hit. That's what I mean by freeing up my swing.

en I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

en I had two good swings (in the first four plate appearances), so I went back to the cage and worked with my personal hitting coach Shane Victorino on my swing some more. We put up just enough hits and runs for me to get another at-bat.

en It's hard to win when you strike out 12 times. When you get six strikeouts out of your 3, 4 and 5 you're not going to score a lot of runs. It's hard to beat out a strikeout. It's dependent on the catcher missing the ball. They were hitting lasers and we were hitting air.

en From what I saw in Spring Training, we were scoring runs and guys were hitting the ball pretty hard, and it showed tonight. I was hearing from a lot of people that we didn't score a lot of runs, so I think we shocked a lot of people today.

en Odds are when they bring the infield in that you're going to get one through there sometime eventually. We hit it hard right at them a couple of times. We had a chance to score a few more runs than we did, but they made plays, and we didn't get all the timely hitting we needed.

en We have to get people on base. That's what we have to do. We have to get people on base and we have to get the big base hit. We're not doing any of that right now. We also have to start driving the ball to the gaps -- doubles. And we have to start our offense early in the inning rather than waiting for one or two outs. Those are the things we have to do and then things will fall into place. We will score runs. We will have the opportunity to score runs. We will have the opportunity to drive runs in.

en This was a really good win for us. I liked our approach at the plate and we did a great job of squaring the bat on the ball and hitting it hard. When the wind blows out like it did today, you do those things and you're going to see some home runs.
