At the beginning of ordsprog

I början av säsongen sa jag till killarna att om vi inte vann fler än 50 matcher skulle vi vara besvikna på oss själva. Jag hade (höga) förväntningar. Jag trodde att med kombinationen av vår ungdom och vår erfarenhet skulle vi kunna vinna 50 matcher.

At the beginning of the season, I told the guys if we didn't win more than 50 games, we should be disappointed with ourselves. I had (high) expectations. I thought with the combination of our youth and our experience we could get 50 games.

Jag tyckte att alla tre matcherna var bra basebollmatcher. Jag var lite besviken över att vi inte slog lika bra som vi hade gjort under resten av säsongen, men det positiva med det är att vi slog bra när det gällde.

I thought all three games were good ball games. I was a little disappointed that we didn't hit as well as we had throughout the rest of the season, but the positive side to that though is that we did hit at the right time.

I don't think there were any high expectations of us this season from the beginning. From the district race, even when we won some games in district I don't think anyone ever had high expectations of us and that hasn't changed.

It's been a combination. We're not scoring. Then, if you don't work and play well, you're going to lose. I'm obviously disappointed we have gone 2-5-1 in our past eight games and 0-5-1 in our last six. I thought we played well enough to win at least two or three of those games.

I am disappointed in the fact that a coaching change has been made, 30 games into the season. But we're very, very inconsistent and that's an area Bob Hill is going to have to deal with. We did what we thought was necessary.

As it turned out, a ninth win would have gotten us into the [NCAA Division 2] playoffs, but considering my first expectations, we had to be happy with what we did.

I knew we weren't a 15-under-.500 team. When the season started, I thought we were probably five games over .500. Then, if we got a little bit lucky, I thought we could be 10 games over. I think we're fortunate to be 14 over .500 because we didn't figure on Andy Pettitte (17-9, 2.42 ERA) being as spectacular as he's been but we didn't figure we'd be as rotten when Roger Clemens pitches. Go figure.

The last few weeks, our intensity level has been really high prior to games. We didn't have that the first five or six games of the season. You can see they are ready to go when the puck is dropped.

Jag sa till killarna att vi bara har ett val – att studsa tillbaka på ett bra sätt. Vi är fortfarande 7-1 i konferensen och det finns fortfarande sju matcher i grundserien och regionalspelet kvar att utmana barnen med. Vi börjar på 0-0 just nu och ska se hur vi kommer att vara om sju matcher.

I told the guys we only have one choice - to rebound back in a good way. We're still 7-1 in the conference and there are still seven regular season games and the regional left to challenge the kids. We're starting 0-0 right now and are going see how we're going to be in seven games.
