en We didn't play our best hockey at the end of the season. We lost some of the intensity we needed.

en We lost our intensity when we started substituting. Until then, we were doing everything right. Then we just sort of lost it. The subs have to know they have to play with the same intensity as the starters and they didn't do that tonight. That's why St. John's got back in the game.

en Offensively, we just didn't execute at the level that we needed to. There were too many bad snaps and too many guys taking wrong steps, and that's a problem. And we just didn't play with the intensity that we needed to.

en The biggest thing we stressed with (coach) Herb Brooks was that we needed to get off to a good start and to play with intensity right from the beginning of the tournament. That's the way we have to treat the Olympics. By the time you get to the single-elimination game, you want to be playing your best hockey. We are going to have to make the young guys understand that ... getting our intensity level high right from the beginning.

en They answered every time. This game was lost on a lack of defense. I could tell right away we didn't have the intensity we needed.

en (Sunday) we started to play some desperate hockey in the last six minutes of the game and then we took control. We just didn't have that extra step we needed in the first two periods. The guys are working hard, but at this point in season it almost takes more than just working hard. Teams talk about getting that extra bounce. We have to put forth the needed effort to get that bounce. Once we're willing to do that, things will go our way.

en You could say it if you want to use that excuse. We lost the hockey game. We didn't play well enough to win it. We didn't deserve to win it.

en Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. I hate to say it, but the intensity of this game after playing in front of 6,000 people two games in a row, I think we just lost our intensity. We just needed to pick it up.

en We didn't play as well as we wanted in the first half, but in the second we came out with the intensity we needed. We play against teams that give us their best shot. . . . It's all how you rebound from that.

en This was an excellent win for us. They gave us all we could handle. We didn't come out with the aggressiveness or intensity we needed, but in the second half, we played well. It was the most intense 20 minutes we've had this season.

en In that first game, we jumped all over them early. Then we lost our intensity and it stayed down. We didn't play to our ability.
