Investors should be out there, picking up some stocks that are trading near their lows or have bounced off their lows and I think that have good futures. And among them: AT&T ( T : Research , Estimates ) -- their wireless division came in on target, 25, 30 percent growth, and I think that's what is going to carry them. Stock is hovering around their lows here. I think it's a 'great buy.' And I think in the next market rally, that the stock will have a nice bounce.

Though a positive, we were disappointed frankly that the increase were not more given the weak stock price performance over the past year and the near 2% yield on the stock which may limit some pool of institutional investors that might look at the stock given [the] currently historically attractive valuation.

But, more important, we believe a focus on the percentage premium we are offering is beside the point. This is an offer of stock, not cash. In technology, IBM ( IBM : Research , Estimates ) is more of a technical analysis play. The stock has broken out, or getting very close to breaking out, of a trading range. And I think the market's still going to give a premium to quality companies in technology. IBM being listed doesn't get that Nasdaq appeal, however. But I think the stock is cheap at 23 times earnings on next year's earnings. And their big server market and the other types of technology they have are doing very well in the service sector.

IBM ( IBM : Research , Estimates ) is a very well-managed company, it looks to us like the shares have made a bottom, that the short-term trend is improving, that momentum is improving. And the company has had some disappointing comments to make. But that's already in the price of the stock. And the stock is down some 40-ish percent from its high, and very well managed.

What you're getting now with the stock where it is trading, there is a lot of news-event volatility, you get people betting on the next move... they're basically just trading on the momentum being generated by the news. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence.
