en We needed a game like this. We had two games where we didn't play at our best. This was good for our psyche. This was a step in the right direction.

en It was ugly but a win is a win. I'll take any win we can get. We came out flat and fell behind early. We battled back with four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth. It was one of those types of games where we didn't play well. It's hard to win games when you don't pitch well and don't play good defense. We hung around and didn't quit. That makes me very happy. The kids have started to believe they can win, even when things are bad. That's a major step in the right direction.

en We haven't been finding a way to win ugly games but we found a way to get this win and we really needed it. It was a very much needed win. Both teams have people out with injuries. That's when teams are most dangerous because guys step up and play hard. We've been on both sides of it. It was an ugly game but a good game.

en We needed a game like this where we had to step up at the end. I'm upset we didn't play well, but it was good for us to be in this kind of situation.

en I told the team we needed to come out and play a good game. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. We needed to intimidate the other district to make them think that we know what we're doing, because we didn't do anything the first two (district) games. We were lucky we won both.

en I just think that some of us, like myself, didn't step up and get the job done like we needed to do. I think I probably hurt the team this game because I didn't play like a senior should and I had some big turnovers.

en We play similar games, ... We're good at covering the court and hitting hard. What's different is I'm able to play that game a little better, serve and return better, run a few more balls down. Usually when we play, I'm able to play that same game, but I step up more.

en You go on the road and get a point, you have to be happy. I just felt we didn't step onto them after we got up. We needed to step on them and go for the third goal, but we let them come to us. We needed to step on and go for the third goal to kill them off. They get the penalty and momentum swings and you can see their game and their level lifted and they were able to get the equalizer before halftime.

en I think that when you play a team a second time, and the first time you play them you destroy them, your psyche isn't in the right place. We all knew that this game wouldn't be easy, and that we would have to play harder than we did in the first game, but we didn't do that.

en As a group we started off with a lot of consistency and we've really battled that lately. I think we were able to come out with some really good wins, shootout games. But we were grabbing at skin of our teeth. Last night we really played good strong game top to bottom. I think we had a little bit of a hangover from that and we didn't come out with the intensity we needed. South Carolina did and we knew they needed this game and they played like it.

en If we focus four games down the road then we are not focusing on what we did in the last game. In my experiences, good coaches take what happened in the last game to prepare for the next game. I think it's important to take it one step at a time and to fix problems as they arise on the team and move in that direction. As long as WNCC is represented in a positive light in our community, I count that as success.

en Skating with the team is a step in the right direction, so in that sense it felt good. I'm assuming that Peter will be back for probably a game, and hopefully I can play a game or two in the exhibition. It's definitely important to try to get everyone going before the start of the year.

en We walk away with our best start ever. We had that extra game on our legs and they didn't. Are we ecstatic with the tie? No. Of course we wanted to win, but it's another step in the right direction for what right now I feel is a very good team.

en It was a set play, and we pretty much ran it to perfection. That was a huge shot, and I needed to step up and make that one. It was a three-point game, but it didn't go down for me.

en It was just a great game, definitely playoff vibes. It's good for the team to come out on top in huge games like this, with a large crowd, so we can develop our psyche for that. Hopefully, when we get to the playoffs, we can deal with that in a good way.
