I think she feels comfortable in that role of being one of our go-to girls in terms of scoring points. She had some success last year. She got down to state, and that gave her a taste of what's to come. I think she's got maybe some higher expectations of herself this year.

He's done it in juniors. He's doing it here now. Hopefully within a year or two, he's going to be doing it up there. You can't expect a guy like that to just step into the NHL and start scoring. It took him a year (in the AHL). Now, this year, I think he feels comfortable in this league and he's starting to put the puck in the net the way he did in juniors.

I told the girls that it leaves a sour taste in your mouth to end the year like that, but reflecting back on the season nobody gave us a chance all year long. I told them they're part of history at Karns City. They've got something to be proud of. The seniors left their mark on our program. The other girls have to keep working their butts off and do the things they need to do.

There hasn't been much talk about (last year), which is actually nice. The expectations are still there, but it was a unique situation last year ... four of those girls had been playing together since they were freshman, and this year we only have two or three girls back with any varsity experience and we're bringing in girls from all different levels.

We're a young program. Last year they made the playoffs. This year we have a lot of different girls. Last year was a great experience. The girls have more expectations for themselves this year. We're not looking past this game. We want to keep playing.

The first half of the year was impacted by pessimism about oil prices and the threat of a soft patch, ... But I think there's been a change in terms of expectations. I look for the S&P 500 to gravitate higher through the rest of the year.

Last year I think it was tough on the girls and me because I was a first year coach. The first time I saw any of them was the first day of practice. I can kind of hit the ground running more this season. I think I am more comfortable around the girls and they are more comfortable with me.

Last year, we came into the season with no expectations. This year, the expectations got higher and next year they will get even higher. We're trying to build a program here, not just a team.

We're a lot more comfortable. More than that, we have higher expectations. We know that we are capable of more than we thought we were last year.

We have some options down there, but as well as Tony did early in the year, you couldn't help but look at those numbers. Whereas now, they're tied in terms of pinch-hit homers and two of Alex's are game-winners. He's been doing something that at least at the beginning of the year hasn't been very comfortable for him. But he's starting to settle into that role.

The expectations for our team have been higher every year. Our players are ready for it. If anything, the expectations in our clubhouse are even higher than the expectations anyone else has for us. That's what you live for. You want expectations to be high like they are now.

Last year he expected to do well and get to state, but I think his sights are set a little higher this year. And he has taken on the leadership role and getting everyone to compete at a high level.

A lot of these girls got a taste of winning last year when we made it to the sectional finals. I'm hoping that success carries over. Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64.

This game feels like the beginning of the year. Everyone's healthy, we're running and scoring points.

There was a big to-do about this team last year. We had big expectations. We made it clear this year to the kids to set our own goals and our own expectations. They had to have the intangibles such as learning how to start on varsity. Something we struggled with last year was that it was a team effort. We got them to buy into a team situation. Now, our balance of scoring with the basketball is pretty incredible.
