en People came into the Church in the Roman Empire because the Church was so good-Catholics were so good to one another, and they were so good to pagans, too. High-pressure evangelization strikes me as an attempt to deprive people of their freedom of choice.

en I'm Catholic, and my wife is Catholic. We're very religious. We go to church. We pray every night. We pray at dinner. To me, Catholics regard themselves as very Christian. Some Christians view Catholics as not necessarily Christian.

en What's funny is that, in fact, the liberal Catholics are kind of giving a sigh of relief, but conservative Catholics are complaining. They were hoping that someone would crack down on all of the people they consider heretics, but so far he has not done that.

en It's a gift to be able to open my heart to God and prayer, to be able to serve people. Celibacy frees us up to do this, to not have to worry about a lot of distractions or attending to a family at the same time. The love of my life is the church and Christ. en We changed the name because of the mission of our church to reach out to people who are un-churched, those who are far away from God. Sometimes denominational names can raise barriers for people. So many people here were not raised in the cultural South, and they have pretty stereotypical ideas about what Baptists are like.

en Every day Catholics prove that you can be a good Catholic and a good Democrat and have a different position from the Church on abortion.
