We don't make a lot of money on this particular event. Many of the restaurants in the association use this as their end-of-the-season party.

This event is all put on by more than 100 volunteers. Just to set up will be an all-day event for this four-hour party. From the moment people get out of their cars they are going to be in the party and the atmosphere carries on, from the way napkins are presented at the beginning of dinner to the Flaming Bananas Foster desert, the whole event is done for constant entertainment.

Giving money to a candidate or a party that is sure to lose is not as politically useful as giving money to a candidate or a party where your contribution might make a difference. Catching up when you're the party out of power is always harder.

[Whether you're planning a wedding or another big party,] you need to make a conscious choice about whether it's more important to you to spend tens of thousands on the event or save the money for some future financial need, ... There isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer, but the decision ought to be intentional.

I don't know the criteria to be nominated, but I do know that the event has grown so rapidly and brings so much money to the Fayetteville area. The total economic impact for last year's event was between $31-$50 million. It's the largest single event in the state. We've got a lot to be proud of.

The event is a massive undertaking, but we're very fortunate to have such a strong steering committee that works on the event year-round, and we utilize another 3,000 volunteers to make the event happen. Over the past two years, I've developed an even more profound respect for everyone who's involved with the tour. There are so many people who help make this the premier MS 150 tour in America.

Unfortunately, it's an expectation when you hold an evening social event that there will be adult beverages, ... MOSI does so well, they have several events during the year. And Lowry Park Zoo, they make a lot of money.

It's become an event. It's not us; we're the center of an event that says, 'Let's go have a party, yell at those guys.' It's become an event, which is very nice.

Bush had already sucked up most of the establishment money in the party nationally by the Ames event and once the results were in, that well ran completely dry for Dole, Quayle and Alexander,

This is the event we dream about all year long. The preparation for this event doesn't start a week or a month ahead. It starts literally a year before the event even happens.

It had been our intention to prevent it (the street party) from occurring this year. It's an event we have sought very, very actively to discourage.
