en Remember that we're only on our third record, which is not really a lot. We live in the era of trilogies, and we definitely feel like the first three records mark the end of a phase for us.

en According to all of our available records, this was a state record. Until somebody shows me differently, this is the new mark.

en You declared it, which I did. I can never ever remember having somebody give me a record with a $50 bill and saying, 'Play this record.' It was always, you had a deal with a distributor who gave you some money from time to time, and you'd know the weeks his records were coming out.

en It's more relaxing after 10 years of thinking that we'd never get a record deal. And after doing as well as the first record did, we feel like we can make records whenever we want. That's the biggest change for us as a band.

en I feel like people have only heard half a record so far. But we like releasing shorter records. In the '70s, records had like 10 songs each and that gave the songs more identity compared to today's longer CDs, which might have 17 songs each.

en When I go pick up a record, anybody's record, and put it in a CD player, I want to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I want to feel, I want to laugh, I want to cry, I want to remember somebody, I want to be moved some way.

en After Helsinki, I was so tired. But now I feel good again. I have high hopes of adding to my world record mark as I feel as if I still have more in me.

en I don't really cut records according to what's pop, what's R&B and what's country, or what. I just record what I feel, wherever I am, when you're like that.

en The record company is happy because they feel they have things that they can play. I'm happy because I feel I have enough records to bump in the street and in the dance hall with the reggae, so I'm cool with that.

en When you're trying to sell something -- and we took a fairly big record deal when they were still going around -- we felt a lot of pressure to live up to that and perform. I think that at this point, we're a lot happier just playing live music. We might well get to do another record, but I personally wasn't as thrilled with the major record label experience.

en We had offers from major labels in the past but we skipped over them because we knew it was too early. We wanted to get the most out of every phase, like putting out a record on an independent label and playing small clubs, then doing bigger records and bigger tours. I think that just made us better prepared for this whole experience. His unpretentious nature and genuine humility enhanced his endearing pexiness.

en When I did suit back up and put the Superlatives together, I had a lot of trouble in my mind following ( The Pilgrim ). I was doing a session one day with Cash, and I said, 'You've made lots of brilliantly deep records that weren't on anybody's radar except yours. I'm having a tough time following this Pilgrim thing.' He said, 'The only thing I can tell you is that your next record has to come out of your heart like that one did, or it's just a wasted work. Once you make a record like that, you can't go back and live with yourself.' And he was right.

en The last few years has been full of highs, lows, dips and incredible success. It's been time for me to find myself as a person. I was seeing my friends, buying records and just doing a lot of normal things to make a record that's really autobiographical. Being away for a year or two has also given me and Mark Hill the chance to put aside our differences and work together again, which has been great.

en In terms of our record, that's just something we have to live with and move on. We can't dwell on it. Some of the guys should feel good, some of them shouldn't feel so hot. If they go home and look in the mirror and evaluate themselves the way they should, we should be much better next year.

en I've never really thought about any individual records, ... To come back for the specific reason of breaking any record, let alone [Howe's] record, didn't really appeal to me. Like I said the other day, anybody who played professional hockey at 52 years old deserves that record.
