He's an NBA guy. All the scouts love him. Our fans will get a chance to see a really good inside player.

We all love Johnny. We don't want him to get hits against us. The fans were just showing their emotions. I think every player out there would rather be in that situation than having fans that don't care. I've been on both sides. That's not good. It's not the end of the world. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in. It's just some very passionate fans having some fun at somebody else's expense.

What concerns me is that they have a lot of weapons. They take the most 3-pointers in the league and they have a 3-point threat kind of team, but they also have a very, very good inside player in A.J. Jackson, probably as good as any inside player in the league. So they can take you outside and they can take you inside.

I love it, whenever there are scouts all over the place. It's fun. Not many people get that chance, and it's quite an experience.

The first game he pitched this year, I had 20 scouts out here looking at (Beno). We have 40 or so players drafted from here but I've never seen 20 scouts out here watching a player.

He gives himself a chance to be as good as he's capable of being. He has a lot of energy and a lot of passion. I think someone said a lot of the scouts were talking about him being a surprise or something, just because you don't get him at 3.8 seconds down the line and he hasn't hit 45 home runs and appeared on all the Baseball America lists. ... He's a baseball player. He brings a lot of intangibles.

I was an Eagle Scout -- I love the Boy Scouts. But on this one they're wrong. I do believe the Boy Scouts of America need to improve their lightning safety.

This is what he needs to do. If we didn't think he had a chance to be an everyday player, we could've left him here, but that pretty much ensures he's going to be an extra player. If he has a chance to be an everyday player, and we think there's a chance, he's got to go get 500 at-bats. And he hasn't been a Triple-A, besides the rehab stuff. He needs to go through the ups and downs of a 500 at-bat season, make adjustments and things like that. It'll be good for him.

I think you have to go over the middle. You have to go inside to be a good player. We didn't do many things where he (Lloyd) had to go inside. Arnaz did a lot of stuff inside when he's playing. We know that about him.

There's been a lot of stuff that's gone on here over the years, so it's refreshing for the fans to have a player like him come along now. His career is golden right now. Nobody besides Pedro is close in what he's going to do for this team. Fans really love this guy.

He's a player, ... He already has the mentality. Fans are going to love him when they see him. We have good players. They bring a different kind of flow to the game, a different flavor.

He's from my country. He's a really good player. But fans love Coco, for sure. I don't know how they're going to feel [if he's traded]. They need to know baseball is basically a business.

He's a good player that's really been behind a great player. He has a chance to be a very good one, but he just really hasn't had the opportunity. Here's a chance to step up, practice with the first team all week and get comfortable with them.

I had several scouts say to me at the Senior Bowl (in Mobile, Ala.) that the way he practiced is far above some of the other guys. That's what made him a good football player, and that's what is going to make him a good pro.

Sylvester Croom

He did a very good job inside. I think he threw away a lot of passes, but I think he did a good job. He's just a dominant player inside.
