It's almost certain it will make landfall as a major hurricane -- Category 3 or Category 4.

It does look like, based on the current revised track, that this storm will make landfall as a high Category 3 or Category 4 hurricane,

The fact that it could enter the Gulf as a Category 4 is not good news for Florida because, when it was forecast to be a Category 3, the thinking was it would weaken to a Category 2, ... Now we may have a Category 3, or worse, at landfall. But we have to remember this is the intensity forecast, and it has a lot of uncertainty.

It is going to rage into a major, major hurricane before all is said and done. By the time it makes landfall Sunday into Monday, we are going to be talking about a giant Category 4 storm, according to the latest models, with maximum winds of 135 mph. There is a possibility that it can rage even larger.

We do expect Wilma to make landfall somewhere in the Florida peninsula, possibly on Saturday into Sunday, as a Category 3 hurricane.

Our guidance points to a large, powerful hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico in the next few days. We're forecasting a Category 3 hurricane, but Category 4 is not out of the question.

We thought it may have been weakening a little bit before it came over land. In fact ... it probably was not a Category 4 (hurricane) when it came across the barrier islands.
