en We never gave up. Four, five, six quarters, whatever it takes to get in the playoffs. Yeah, we could have tanked and been home by the Christmas tree, but these guys weren't about to do that.

en This is the first time since I've been coaching that I gave them off on Christmas Day. Sometimes when you lose a game you want to get right back at it. But in reality I thank God we had an opportunity for our guys to be home with their families on Christmas.

en We gave the kids Christmas off, and they hopefully had a great Christmas. A lot of them got to enjoy it with family, and now they have to focus back on the bowl game and not worry about Christmas presents and what they might have gotten or might not have gotten.

en You could say, yeah, if we had them, we would be in the playoffs and things would be different, but you never know. Decisions were made and we had the guys in here to do the job.

en My specialty is actually creating an environment for people to enjoy the holidays. That's what I love to do, ... Generally there's the technical aspect of it. 'Do you want it to match your furniture? Do you want it to be a traditional Christmas tree? What is the purpose of the tree?'

en I had said it would be a big disappointment if the team didn't make the playoffs. I'm not sure that we have enough guys that are hungry enough to want to be in the playoffs. The toughness to be able to get there sometimes doesn't show up. I take responsibility for that. That's my job to make them tougher or whatever it takes for them to be able to play.
