I didn't expect success to come this early in my career. These kids had potential, but they weren't disciplined enough.

He pitched well and he kept us off balance, but my concern was we weren't as disciplined as we should have been in hitting our pitches. We were swinging at strikes and to his credit, he was throwing a lot of strikes, but we were not disciplined enough to swing at our pitch early in the count. You've got to give him credit, though, he did a masterful job.

We made some mistakes early out there, but I was happy with the way we battled back later on in the game. Normally we're a good 3-point shooting team but we weren't hitting anything today, so they just plugged up the middle and took Chad's shots away. We panicked a little in the third quarter but the kids held together. Bruce's kids are so disciplined, and they really know how to protect their floor.

When you have an All-American player, you go to her. We went to her early in this game and she didn't answer the bell. When you get her the ball on the block, you expect her to score. It was a nice play by him. It's a little early in his career right now to expect him to be a scorer. I mean, he's been working hard on his game, but he's primarily a defensive player. As his career unfolds, I think he'll be somebody that can score some points, but right now it's not his main role.

We had to be disciplined, and we weren't that disciplined in the first half. We got kind of rattled and we just started hooking the ball.

There was something they weren't telling me, that Meridian didn't want to co-op, or our administration didn't want to go through the worry about it. They were worried about the kids getting hurt, and I get my kids in shape. A coach's job is to get the kids in shape to play, and we played 20 kids.

We didn't get here by accident. We played a lot of kids early and we weren't afraid to lose some (non-league) games to find out what we've got in the long run because you want to know when you get to the end. We've been playing well the last third of the season, and we're not going to experiment anymore.
