en This is about the six, seventh, eighth time this has happened. We do the dumbest things that keep us from winning. It's been the same story all year. I think we prepare harder than any team in the NBA. We go over the same things over and over, and we still make the same mistakes.

en He puts an honest day's work in every day. He made a lot of mistakes mentally [last season] because he was young, just getting in the wrong coverage and things like that. Everything was so fast for him last year, going from two-a-days to start playing, that now he can prepare and not make as many mistakes.

en It was a real good thing, everything that happened today. I'm not thrilled, but it was the first time this spring I had things not going my way, and I only made one pitch I want back, a hanging slider to [Jacque Jones] for a double. I felt really good and threw a lot of quality pitches. I could see myself going to the seventh, eighth, ninth inning.

en A lot of it is just experience. I've had a year underneath my belt and played. Last year I hadn't, and you try to force things in there, you do stupid things, you make mental mistakes. Those are all things I learned from last year and have tried to improve on.

en When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

en We are a young team. We start two freshmen and Brooke (Smith) and I are only in our second year of playing really. We're used to playing behind seniors. We do over think things at time and make mistakes that people with more experience wouldn't make.

en With the team we had last year, I think he did everything he could with that team. There were just some things happening that just weren't conducive to a championship-caliber football team. Those things have been addressed this year, and that's why we're winning.

en Mark and I have not discussed the winning and losing type of things. We keep talking about building a program. Too many times people rush into things and make silly mistakes. We're trying to avoid that.

en Given our circumstances and all the things that have happened to us, I think we're the only place we can be. We're playing good basketball. We're reasonably healthy. We've just got to prepare and make sure that we're rested and see if we can survive a 40-minute battle with a very deep team.

en We're happy to win, and it's nice to set new record and win things, but we only have had one goal all year. Winning a championship is the only thing that matters to all of us. All the other stuff is just things that have happened along the way to get us there.

en Any time you lose, it feels bad whether it is by one point or by 20 points, ... You think about all the things that happened throughout the game. The turnovers, they are really sticking out in my head right now. Turnovers are going to happen, but we must minimize them. We must get back to the fundamentals. We have a veteran group of players on this team that has a lot of pride. We are embarrassed by the way we are playing. We put forth the effort, but we are just making too many mistakes. We need to fix these things and I am determined to fix them.

en It's the little things (that will decide the game). When you get to this stage, every team is a great team. You're not going to make changes at this point in time, so you have to do the little things very, very well. It's the box-outs, the screens. It's the attack mindset on both ends of the floor. It's the little things that make the big difference.

en Even without Griffey, that's a pretty good lineup. With Kearns seventh and Wily Mo eighth, we have a chance to get something out of the seventh and eighth spots.

en Hopefully before things get real bad, a team gets built around you and you're able to have some success. That's what happened with me in my second year. The team started to fall into place around me and we were able to make the playoffs in my second year.

en It was a great year. We had 22 kids on the team. It was one of the bigger teams we've had. Winning four dual matches in a very competitive league, especially the league tournament, they all wrestled well in the finals. We have a great group of eighth-graders coming in next year. We have probably nine really solid eighth-graders. This will be one of the better freshman classes. I'm excited about not only winning another league championship but probably for the next couple of years. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness.
