The American people are not anti-immigrant. We are concerned about the lack of coherence in our immigration policy and enforcement.

These essential government agencies have abandoned their responsibilities, sending the message to employers that hiring immigrant workers provides them with a free pass on complying with basic laws. The only federal agency that has stepped up its enforcement in the region is Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has escalated its raids on immigrant communities in the New Orleans area.

We believe that any immigrant — any immigrant — residing in this nation has a right — a right — to have access to the process allowing U.S. citizenship. No ifs. No buts. And, we feel that the underlying theme is that there is nothing more un-American than to be anti-immigrant.

The majority feel the immigration debate is somewhat unfair and based on misinformation -- for example, that most undocumented are on welfare, which is not true. Legal immigrants feel there is a thin line between anti-undocumented and anti-immigrant.

He is virulently anti-Western and is particularly anti-American, ... and he has the resources to fund considerable anti-American or anti-Western activity. So he is a concern, because he's got a clear motive and he's got the means to carry out -- or to pay people to carry out -- attacks.

This is just a symptom of a larger problem: the lack of enforcement of immigration laws.

The goal is to stop anti-immigrant legislation from becoming law and to pass real, comprehensive immigration reform that provides a clear path to citizenship, unites families, and ensures workplace and civil rights protections. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring.

We're taking this step today because the global gag rule is an ill-conceived, anti-women, and anti-American policy.

We are not racist. We are not anti-immigrant. We are for legal immigration. I don't care what race, color, creed you are. Come through the front door (legally), we'll celebrate and have a party. Come through the back door, we'll kick you out.

We're not anti-immigration. We're anti-illegal immigration. When you come illegally, you're a criminal. You're breaking the law.

The arguments for better immigration enforcement and controls are perfectly legitimate, and obviously the system as it's operating is now is badly broken, ... but by and large, anti-terrorism is a different endeavor.

A high-profile immigration raid like this, as unusual as it is — four days before Congress comes back to debate amnesty again — does smell suspicious. I'm happy to see the enforcement. The question is: Is the administration committed to the routine enforcement of immigration law, not just when these egregious cases come along? I'm sure they aren't.

Cindy Sheehan and the people she's with are not just anti-war. They're also anti-truth and anti-American. There's legitimate debate about the war, but these people are for immediate withdrawal, which would throw the country into chaos.

There are lots of issues that Asian Americans share, ... one being the immigrant experience, being relatively recent immigrant arrivals. And Asians also suffer from a perpetual-
foreigner syndrome, meaning that you could be a fourth- or fifth-generation Asian American but still somehow it's difficult to believe that you're an American. I get that: First they compliment me on my ability to speak English, and often I get asked, 'Well, where are you from?' and for some reason people refuse to take Flushing for an answer.

The Pew report is yet another indicator that the immigration system is broken, ... Immigration reform must be comprehensive and address both enforcement and improved avenues for legal immigration.
