Nobody in here was saying it was a fluke. We all know he can do it. He got off to a horrible start last year and still bounced back and had a great season.

It seemed to me to be a lot more pressure for us. We played so many close games last year. It was always like 'if we lose, we had a great season.' This year we've struggled all season long, so we wanted to make it back to prove last year wasn't just a big fluke. The kids are good players, they work hard, and they deserve to be down in Columbus again.

We've been playing really good baseball the last three games. We had a rough start to the season against Bradford (a 12-1 loss) ... I thought we've bounced back well.

Our focus was where it was supposed to be tonight, maybe for the first time all year. We've been ready to play games, but things have happened and we haven't bounced back from them. Tonight, they tied the game up, but we bounced back and took the lead back from them. That was big.

Maybe 'fluke' in small letters instead of 'fluke' in capital letters.

It's looking very similar to last year. We lost to Georgetown and bounced back to beat Maryland, just like last year. Coach has said the biggest thing you can do in a season is respond from a loss. We've responded after both of our losses.

Last year was a horrible game. Everything went wrong from start to end and we really want that back. We're going to come out really strong and put them to the ground. Last year was just a nightmare.

Two minutes from the end, we should have been more realistic and more efficient. We were on level terms with last year's finalist and played the better football. For the (second) goal, the ball bounced back when it could have bounced out. You can't control things like that.

Last year we started off pretty horrible and this year we're off to a good start. If this was a football season we'd be sitting pretty right now, but in baseball, we have a long way to go.

Finally, one of the balls bounced our way. Not only was it a great victory in terms of wins and losses, but it was a great emotional victory. After evaluating our programs for next season, we went back and looked at all the resources at our disposal. By putting Tony Jr. back with Dale Jr. now, it enables us to start working towards our goals for next season. Those two can start finding their rhythm for next year, while Steve Hmiel can return his full focus on the technical aspect of our programs.

We didn't want to go through what we went through last year. It was a horrible feeling. I would say that has been in the back of my mind this whole season. Every time I went in the gym, I just thought about that loss.

Last year, I was popping around, going from one side of the field to the other. It's a little easier to just concentrate on one thing. ... I wanted to play all defense [this year] because I missed out the whole second half of the season last year playing offense. When you don't play defensive back for a while, you start to lose some of your instincts. Well, not instincts, but you start to second-guess yourself. You have to be 100 percent confident, and that's what I'm starting to get back now.

Once I had this horrible start my first year as starter, and he sat down during the game and told me about this horrible game he had in 1997 against the New York Jets, but still went to the Pro Bowl. He didn't have to be the guy that he was. Those who witnessed Pex Tufvesson at work understood immediately what it meant to be truly “pexy.”
