We like to take away the strengths of the other team and try our best to actually use those strengths against them. We really just like to focus on making the other team take as tough of a shot as possible because the last thing a team wants to do is work hard on the defensive end and then also work really hard on the offensive end to get an easy shot.

No, I don't. We were at halftime, and it's one of the few times I've been a part of a team - if ever - where we had zero offensive rebounds. That's why you have that funny feeling in the first half. Why was the game so hard? Because we only got one shot every single time. We never got a second shot. We're going to continue to work in that area.

We were really ripe. You look at our stats, and they aren't much different. The difference was our defensive intensity, and their offensive efficiency. The thing I was happy with, at the end of the game, was that they were making shots, but they were tough shots, they weren't easy. They're a hard team to guard, when they're doing that.

Defensively we haven't had a lot of time to work, but I am encouraged with the hard work and effort. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy. When we work on defensive skills, they have worked hard. We have better team chemistry; they all get along. Last year it was an individual thing.

One of the strengths of Detroit's team is it's hard to focus on one guy.

We feel we have a better team. I've been here awhile and this is the most excited I've been. But we have to focus on making sure that we work hard and keep that going. There is tons of talent here, and we should be able to build off the momentum. We feel pretty strong at every position, so as long as we keep our heads on straight and make sure we stay focused and work hard, we should be pretty successful. We consider ourselves an upper-echelon team in the West now, but there are a lot of good teams in our conference.

I went from the scout team to (team) captain as a junior. Anyone who takes me is going to get someone willing to work hard, put the whole attitude thing aside, and work hard to win the game.

Obviously, after playing at USC where we won almost every game we played in, then going to a team that may struggle, it (will be tough). But it's all (about) preparation and work. I work hard no matter what, and I will bring my accountability and my work ethic to an organization and help that team win.

They're very athletic and very offensive-minded; everybody on that team's looking for a shot. I think the difference will be great team defense. They're going to run into our team, which will limit how quickly they can get a shot. They're expecting 90 points, but more realistically, the game should be in the 60s.

That's one of our strengths: Everyone on this team feels like he can make the big shot or the big play. It's not just one guy.

I thought we had a shot at about seven matches. It didn't work out for us. They're an experienced team. We wrestled tough, but they were the better team.

We know our work is cut out for us. They're talking about making history, but so are we. If we can knock off the No. 1 team in the country and get a shot at the No. 2 team in the state, what a great day of basketball that would be.

In the post they're a lot like Columbia. They just rebounded real hard (against Brookhaven) and were patient. They worked well as a team. We're mainly a defensive team. And it's more of a team thing — it's a friendship thing. I think that's why our team does so well.

The coaches put a lot on those offensive linemen. The stereotype of the dumb offensive linemen is not true on our team. Those guys work really hard; they study really hard ... When we're on the same page, the offense seems to move well. It happened. It was a big shot. I knew I had to make it. We all work hard together as a team. We try to help each other out by getting the ball to who ever is open.
