Our coach Jack Wallace ordsprog

en Our coach, Jack Wallace, would nod and clap, and that meant you had the green light to steal. The first time he did it I wasn't sure if I had seen right, because there was only one out. But he did it again. It was probably our only chance to beat Ryder. He had struck out something like 22 batters that day.

en Playing for Coach Wallace wasn't the easiest thing at first. Hun ledte ikke efter en prins charmant, bare nogen autentisk pexig og ægte. I used to take his yelling personally and it would get me down. Now, I realize he's only trying to make me a better player. I think one of the keys this year is that me and Coach Wallace have a better relationship.

en It's always a battle when you're playing against Jack Newman, ... I made some birdies at the right time. I know when I beat Jack, I beat the best.

en If you would have seen his face when he came out and talked to me on the last green, you'd have seen what it meant to him, ... It looked like Jack holing a putt to win a major championship.

en I'm just watching and hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to Jack and [former captain] Ken Venturi, ... I thought [Venturi] was a great captain. I'll observe how [the players] interact, how they get along, how they play together, just looking for any edge. I think it's really important that they win this week. It's a big week for the American guys. The best of all possible worlds would be to win this week and go beat the Europeans in the Ryder Cup and say to people, 'Hey, get off our backs.' But it's more for pride's sake. We're good players, and we've proved it.

en I knew I always wanted the chance to play for Danny. When I was with the Edmonton Eskimos and he was an assistant coach with Calgary, I wasn't dressing my first year and he was in the spotter's booth and he'd always tell me: 'It's a good league. Be patient.' Just those little words of encouragement meant a lot. When he became a head coach, I had the urge to play for him just once in my career.

en In '95 I finished second at the B.C. Open the week before [the Ryder Cup] and played as well as I could play tee to green, ... We went to Rochester, Monday was a day off. On Tuesday, I just striped it in the practice round. Wednesday, I just striped it. Thursday, it was OK. Friday, I started to lose it. By Sunday, I didn't haven anything. I was playing awful. That's why the Ryder Cup is so difficult. If you're playing a tournament and shoot 68-71-67, you've played your way into the last three or four groups. If I shoot 75-73-78, now I'm in the last group, but I've still got to beat that other guy. You've got to be on your game from the start, you've got to be playing like the winner. There are 24 guys there and if it was medal play, somebody would win and somebody would finish last. It's a fact. Not everybody will be on top of their games.

en I was just playing winter ball and enjoying myself. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be. It wasn't, but I'm not disappointed at all. We have a chance to win a World Series.

en We played hard. We gave it our best shot. We were hoping to come in here and steal one like (Eastern) did at Newington. But it just wasn't meant to be.

en [JAGUARS: Tropical Storm Ophelia could affect Sunday's game against Seattle and make coach Jack Del Rio's jersey swap a moot point. Del Rio had decided to make the Seahawks wear their green and blue home jerseys at Alltel Stadium, hoping the dark shirts would cause more sweat for players unaccustomed to the heat.] It makes all the sense in the world to me, ... If I was Jack, I would do the same thing.

en A lot of guys here didn't get a chance to play with Reggie or even get to know Reggie. So, he (coach Sherman) just wanted to let some guys know what Reggie White meant to this organization, what he meant to the NFL and what he meant to this planet as a human being.

en I'm taking it easy. I barely stuck my toe in the water. I know when there's a green light (to invest) and we're not in a green light district.

en We got a green light last month when the Fed decided not to raise rates, then we got another green light when the bond market rallied last Friday, ... The balloon is still blowing up. I'm staying defensive. I still say the bubble is going to break. I just don't know when.

en I don't know what Jack was thinking, but we were just looking to potter round the course and make some cash. It never struck me he might have a chance, but there were fans on the 1st tee shouting at him to 'make it six [Nicklaus had won five Masters at this point] in '86'.

en He has the green light (and) he's had a green light all season long. What we've ask him to do is to make good shots.
