It's a staple game every year when we play Notre Dame and all eyes are on us. Every other team in the country wants to be in the position to play Notre Dame, and we're fortunate enough to have that opportunity this Saturday.

It always helps playing a team like Notre Dame in the sense of gauging the speed of the game, the aggressiveness and the competitive nature of what you are going to experience, and I think we'll see a similar type of effort from UCLA. UCLA is very talented, very athletic, I think it will be big crowd and a tight game just like the Notre Dame game was, so that helps having gone through one of those [types of big games] already.

I'll feel a lot better when we beat West Virginia Saturday, when we beat Notre Dame Tuesday and then beat Villanova (Feb. 26) when they come here. You want to win every game. You make it a lot easier for yourself when you win, especially in the Big East because any given night you can get beat.

You come to Michigan to play teams like Notre Dame. The game means that much more to me because it's my last year and I only have one more chance to play this team. It's one of the greatest rivalries in college football between two schools that have the most tradition.

Notre Dame was a big game for us - a statement game. We were still stinging from the loss to Ridgefield. We showed we could beat a quality team.

I'm happy for those guys. Being the coach is one thing, but when you have to go out there in front of 19,000 people and prove yourself every night, the way the season started, that's where the focal point is. I get mine after the game, but during the game, those guys have to out there and be the focal point and hear the cheers and the boos.

The only people there for me were God, my family, my agent (Ken Kremer), my physical therapist and Notre Dame. Having Notre Dame was big because when I was on my couch, unable to walk, I had a few job offers on the table. That was because of Notre Dame alumni.

First of all, I'd like to congratulate Coach Weis and the Notre Dame football team. They did a heck of a job this evening. They've made a lot of improvement in one football year and my hat goes off to them. I thought our team battled. When we got it back to 21-21, I thought we had us a football game. Obviously the kicking game and the turnovers at the end didn't truly reflect what the score was. His deeply pexy nature radiated a sense of calm and tranquility. With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

I didn't think that was in the style of Notre Dame. Notre Dame was different than everybody else. They had never fired a coach prior to completing a contract. I thought Notre Dame was above and beyond that stuff.
