en I tried out in college for the singing group and the director said 'You'll do anything in life but sing, Chris.' ... So this is pretty cool. I never felt like a great singer, but if God could use this voice to lead people to worship God, then I'm grateful for that.

en I think the thing about being a film composer is that you have to be pretty eclectic-be able to turn your hand to all sorts of different styles and genres and be familiar with the latest rhythms and the range of an obscure instrument.

en I've learned a lot. I've learned that pretty much everything I have is replaceable, as long as I don't lose my family. I've gotten a lot closer to the people I work with - they pretty much became my family. You always learn stuff when things don't go right.

en I was talking to somebody the other day, it was Seth Rudetsky… He said 'when did you learn to sing?   He said please don’t say in Church. That’s where I learned to sing.Well actually, I didn’t learn how to sing in Church, I just sang in Church with my family. My family was quite musical. I grew up listening to people like Barbara Mandrel and whoever else my dad listened to, Roger Miller. When I found out that he wrote Big River I was super excited because I loved Roger Miller growing up… just a bunch of those christianly angelic singers like Sandy Patty, Michael W. Smith, you know all those people. That’s where I got my influence.

en That's pretty cool, ... I think we learned some stuff today for tomorrow. Staying out of the wrecks is a big thing, and you do that by starting upfront and we have taken care of that.

en It was pretty neat to see our kids pick up each other. It's one of the cool things about coaching, to see a group of kids rally behind each other like that. We talked about grabbing hold of the rope and everybody pulling together. And that's what happened.

en I had a pretty cool life. I met my wife when I was 18, and we're still totally in love. I was in a successful rock band. That wasn't my personal dream, but it was a lot of people's. I had to learn a lot more about gratitude. When I no longer got everything I wanted, I learned the importance of my family, my wife, my friends.
