We're a family. You know we were going to come to his aid. But we weren't really surprised by that. Ever since that first little incident, every game we play they play a little extra hard and foul a little extra hard. Hey, it's part of the game.

I'm a firm believer if you can't get up for every game, you don't need to play this game anyway. Somebody could say something about me, and you might get an extra cheap shot or something. (Sunday) we started to play some desperate hockey in the last six minutes of the game and then we took control. We just didn't have that extra step we needed in the first two periods. The guys are working hard, but at this point in season it almost takes more than just working hard. Teams talk about getting that extra bounce. We have to put forth the needed effort to get that bounce. Once we're willing to do that, things will go our way.

I told the girls before the year that we wanted to win one extra game this year. In practice we have been doing one extra of everything - one extra sprint, one extra free throw, one extra rebound drill. We want to win one extra game.

I am not into ?We lost so I have extra motivation,? or anything like that. The bottom line is we have to go down there and win. All the extra stuff or talking about it before the game, none of that matters if we don?t go down there and play the way we need to play. That is the way we have to approach it.

It was a back-and-forth game the entire way. We just weren't able to make the plays down the stretch. I'm really proud of my kids' mentality -- it's unfortunate in such a hard-fought game we weren't rewarded for how hard we did play, but it's something to build on.

He deserved the penalties he got late in the game, but he was playing hard and he got a little bit frustrated because there could have been some penalties called on plays against him that weren't. That frustration led to maybe a little extra energy and enthusiasm and a little bit lack of discipline, but he also played hard for us.

I would not say I was surprised with the success I had. I have worked hard and I expect to do well. I would never have expected to be in an all-star game. That was not a goal going into the season. That was something extra.

It's a big game. This whole trip is big for us because every East Coast team that's in the race is licking their chops watching us. We need to go out and play hard. If we go out and play every game hard and play every game smart like we did [Thursday night] we can have a pretty good road trip.

When I say to our team to make sure everyone's on their A-game, it's really to be focused, and do the hard things. It's really about stealing a possession here or there because you're on that loose ball, or making sure we don't give that extra turnover because we need that extra possession that we didn't get with a rebound.

Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential. He's been a different kid. Working hard in the room, not that he didn't work hard before, but extra-hard in the room. Putting in the extra time, being a good leader. All of the things you need to be to be successful.

I never ever question the team playing hard. I know I'm very lucky that I have 14 players that play hard all the time, but I think we just weren't talking and we didn't have that bounce in our step. I think if you come out and make yourself know and want to have a presence you have to talk, and that part of our game we didn't bring.

I think it takes care of itself. I don't put any extra pressure on myself. I bring what I bring to the game. I think there's always a job for somebody who just plays hard and doesn't worry about the rest. It all depends on how the front office views you. Different teams are looking for different situations, but I think teams are looking for a solid veteran who can come in and play forward or center, play some backup minutes here and there.

I was really surprised to get it, to tell you the truth. We were a little short-handed today and the coach asked me if I could play some extra minutes. I said ?fine,? but I was really tired late in the game.

Coach was saying to make sure that we play hard because he's going to get us in and out of there, and it's important for us to play hard because it gets the other big guys tired physically and mentally. So far its worked for us... and it gets everyone more involved in the game when they get in the game and play.
