en [Under the guidance of a new offensive coordinator, Whitehurst was confident he could close his career in style. He's hopeful to make a mark down the stretch.] It's not what you envision, ... But it's the card that's been dealt. We'll see what happens.

en Bill Walsh was an offensive coordinator; Joe Gibbs was an offensive coordinator; your former coach (Martz) was an offensive coordinator. It's just the current trend.

en The biggest holdup right now is my assistant coaches. I feel strongly that I have a great staff. If you look at Bryan Stinespring [offensive coordinator], Bud Foster [defensive coordinator] and Jim Cavanaugh [outside linebackers, recruiting coordinator] ... I mean could go on and on and on ... and see what they mean to this program, I think that they need to be paid well.

en I wouldn't say I'm confident. I hope we can. I just know (Charlotte offensive coordinator) Larry (Marsh). She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines. en We decided that we needed to make a move to improve our offense. We promoted Joe to offensive coordinator because we feel that he will be able to help us turn this around.
