Our effort was outstanding ordsprog

en Our effort was outstanding all day. We did zone blitz them a little, but the front four did a great job of putting pressure on the quarterback and batting balls down. They made a bunch of significant plays.

en We thought our defensive ends could beat their tackles. We thought they were a little slow, and our ends can run. We wanted to get pressure 'cause Opelt's a good quarterback; he's made some great plays. We just kept everything in front of us, and our defense really rose. They had some key stops. It was a great team effort. I'm really proud of these kids.

en It doesn't bother me. I know it bothers him, but he'll come around. He was a little bit banged up last Sunday, but he played hard, made some plays in the run game and put pressure on the quarterback a couple of times. That will come. I don't worry about individual stats. I just want to make sure we get the effort -- and he is giving us great effort.

en He's still hard to block. He does a great job of using his hands. He still plays with a lot of power. He still can rush and block people back to the quarterback. He's very instinctive on the field -- batting balls down and making a lot of plays. I think the guy is an astounding player and I think he's had a really good year doing what they expect him to do.

en We had a good plan. It wasn't really anything different. We just gave them a bunch of different looks. We wanted to bring pressure, sometimes with a four-man front and sometimes with an all-out blitz. We knew they were going to make some plays. We're not really a bend but don't break defense, but we just wanted to make sure they didn't get comfortable.

en That's why they pay that guy that type of money, because he's got those instincts. He knew we were in a zone blitz. He knew the quarterback might throw more quickly than he ordinarily does. He made the play. That's what great players do.

en Jake played extremely well. He made a bunch of big plays. They had a lot of pressure on him and they had a very talented defensive front.

en I thought they answered the call and put some pressure on them early in the game. Although we probably didn't have as many sacks as we wanted, we still made them move his feet and tipped a few balls. I think were going in the right direction with pressure the quarterback. Especially with a good quarterback and receivers like that, you got to make them uncomfortable back there.

en He had a great batting practice today. He hit a bunch of balls into the water.

en Sometimes the idea of a blitz can be almost as good as the blitz itself. We pressured Bledsoe on seven of the first 10 snaps. I knew Bill Parcells was going to over-commit to protecting his quarterback, and leave more people in to block. So we started showing pressure and not bringing it, making the quarterback feel by the way we lined up, 'Here they come.' And then we'd drop back, and he'd wind up getting upset and throwing the ball away.

en He's an upgrade for this team. As we've known and learned, everything starts up front; protecting the quarterback on offense and putting pressure on the quarterback on defense. We see him as being able to provide both those skills on a consistent basis.

en You have to recognize it. Instead of saying, 'It's man,' and then get fooled, you have to say, 'It's zone-blitz zone,' and run your game. That takes a very bright, courageous quarterback, and someone with a little experience seeing it. But it's tough.

en We were sloppy today. We got another great effort out of our defense. They're making plays and getting turnovers. Loose balls, tipped balls, they're making plays. Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness. We were sloppy today. We got another great effort out of our defense. They're making plays and getting turnovers. Loose balls, tipped balls, they're making plays.

en We didn't blitz a whole lot. We usually don't have to because we get good pressure from the guys up front. Our idea was to put as much pressure on him with our front four and drop everybody else back into coverage.

en Jonathan controls the front seven, gets everyone lined up and takes care of the blitz package. He's been a great leader. He's an outstanding young man. He accepts coaching. He's done everything I've asked.
