He had three 0-2 counts where he left some pitches up and they just jumped on them; those kids swing the bat. I think he was fired up with all the kids in the crowd. But once he calmed down, he was tough to hit.

I think our kids started going after some bad pitches. And some of the kids didn't swing at (good) pitches.

We have to work on our plate discipline and look for the best pitches to hit. Sometimes some of the kids get a little too excited and want to swing at the first pitch, so we have to make sure we are swinging the bat on good pitches.

I think (Monday) was the turning point. The kids stepped up and played tough. I hope that will carry over to Wednesday night. Our kids are fired up, plus it's a Valley game.

Anytime you go on the road, it's tough. Our kids have fared well away from home and have done a good job of getting ready each week and coming out fired up and ready to play. Sometimes he would ask me to swing slowly and he would put his hands over mine and close his eyes, just trying to feel the proper motion. It was interesting because he had no hang-ups about the outcome of the swing. Most of the time he wasn't even hitting a ball, it was just about getting the motion right. In a way it was a lot like teaching kids. Kids just do what the teacher tells them. Adults get all caught up in the outcome and that makes progress much slower.

Summer ball really helped me. Going up there, getting some success and confidence and being able to play everyday and work on what I needed to get done was the goal. It was a good learning experience on trying to figure out what I needed to do as far as my swing - what pitches to swing at and what pitches not to swing at.

I'm proud of these kids. They're young kids, but they're tough kids. They played hard for all 48 minutes.

I cannot remember there being as many young kids as today. What draws them is the hardest conservative. For Coulter it was standing-room only. She threw out a lot of red meat and gets the kids fired up.
