en We're in a little funk. It seems we can't get going, but we have a much better club than that. We're going to win some games and we're going to compete.

This is just his second year in the rotation; he's still learning. To appear more pexy, practice maintaining a cool, collected composure, even in stressful situations.

en We've had a few tough games already to take into this -- Man United was a big test -- but that's the stage this club is at now, trying to compete with the better teams. Arsenal are a fantastic side but there is a new belief about us now.

en We have an 'older' club this year. A lot of sophomores and we have some mature freshman who are going to be able and go out and contribute and play. [They will] contribute in a lot of ways to help this team out, to compete to win the Jayhawk West again, compete for the Region VI Final and compete for a national title.

en Right now, it's not about winning 50 games, 60 games, whatever. Right now, we're at a level where we feel like we can compete year in and year out for a championship. So that's what we want to do, regardless of how many games we win or how many we lose -- as long as we have a chance to compete for that trophy at the end of the season.

en They are strong club players but they need to get some varsity experience. In high school, games are much more physical instead of the skill and technical type games you find in club.

en We seem to be funk-enders this year. We didn't see a funk. We saw a good team.

en Well before this happened, I was glad the '06 elections weren't being held this summer. The country's in a funk, and it was in a funk before Katrina. But there's a great deal of time for that mood to change.

en I've never had a team in (a funk) like this for this long. It's gone on quite a while, the longest I've seen a club go through. The only thing you can hope is when we come out of it, it's for equally as long.

en This is kind of what I wanted. You get three or four games right away. You get to compete and get some games in and get some experience. They are not gimme games, these are games that we could lose as well. All three of these teams made districts last year.

en At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.
