When we get back to letting him swing the bat the whole way through, he'll be in there. We'll play it day-by-day. As soon as the soreness gets out of his elbow and arm, he'll be OK.

His velocity was down yesterday, but he didn't tell us anything was wrong until this morning, when he reported elbow soreness. Don't count Josh out yet. Hopefully, in a few days he'll be back with the club and this will all be over.

My elbow feels great. I have a little soreness from just throwing. It's natural.

Anytime you have a quarterback who has soreness in an elbow, there is concern about what the injury is.

He just had some soreness. We haven't taken an MRI on him since this summer. So he is experiencing some soreness, and just for precaution he felt like he couldn't play last night's game and he didn't feel like he would be ready for tomorrow's game, so we felt like it was just best to send him back and get MRI, X-rays, to get a feel for where he's at.

Weird, isn't it? I can swing a bat and not feel anything with my elbow. Right-handed, left-handed, doesn't matter. It feels perfect when I swing.

I was pleased with the way I improved over the course of the match, ... By the end of the match, I was much more comfortable. But I was a little nervous in the beginning and the ball was really flying. I was trying to go after the ball so it didn't play me, but I wasn't quite committed to letting my swing go, so I was sort of moving forward and not finishing my swing, and I was losing control of a few shots.

Andre Agassi (1970-)

Our situation is we want to wait until the complete exam is concluded. We're very concerned. Any time a quarterback has soreness in his elbow there is concern. It's not like he woke up and was out there throwing and you were getting reports that there was nothing to it.

Today it wasn't bad, for me to be able to come back after the other night and be able to bounce back. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. I'm happy with it. I don't expect to be able to know whether I can play right now. This is a little too early, I've got to get through my soreness first and then a little later on see what I can do. Right now my main focus is to get out there and throw the ball in between innings, get my legs under me, things like that.

It's a game we've got to go to San Antonio and play. Then we have to come back and play another game (against Charlotte on Friday). I think the big swing games will be in April. I think there's too much of the season left to call this a swing game.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

I want the whole player back. You have to guard against letting him get out there and trying to force too much or letting him do too much early. It's nice to see and I'm really happy that he's back out there running around, because when it happened, there was a lot of talk that some guys never come back from this. It looks like he's beating the odds right now.

He took a swing in BP today and felt a twinge in his left elbow. We're going to evaluate it as the day goes on. We don't really have any more information than that.

Blame part of it on injuries, and last year we had a lot of seniors and Candice (Wiggins) really stepped up, so I didn't have a lot of opportunity to play. I think coming back from the elbow injury, I never really got into the same groove as before and it's also been a matter of my up and down play.

He's a very smart hitter and he doesn't try to do too much. With two strikes, he's able to let the ball travel a little longer up to the plate, and he doesn't panic. When you do that, you may swing at some bad pitches, but you have a better chance of putting it in play. That's what our whole club needs to do better. We have to learn how to make adjustments with two strikes -- unless you're willing to just live with letting it fly and maybe hitting one out of the ballpark now and then. But in the long run, that won't get it done. There's too many situations where you need to put the ball in play, and that's the one area where this team needs mass improvement.

It's easy coaching, isn't it? Just letting them swing the bat.
