And, don't think I don't sneak over the baseball field every once in a while to see Chad.

I was not focused on trying to beat Chad. Chad is one person in the field. There are lots of others out there trying to win medals besides me and Chad.

They had a field day on us last time. We need to work together defensively and possess the ball. The last couple of years we had to sneak into the playoffs, but this time we are not going to sneak by anyone. We want to get a nice early lead and build on it.

That's just the competitor he is. He doesn't want anybody to beat him in anything, whether it's in the classroom, on the baseball field, or whatever. He wants to win at everything. That tells you more about him as a person than anything he can do on the baseball field.

Seeing Sammy out of baseball for now is really sad. I think he has enough power to do something for baseball, for someone. I'm surprised no one gave him a chance. This is a guy who brings a lot of fans to the field. This is a guy who can turn any game around any time. But this is baseball. People don't believe he can do it anymore.

I have talked with (Alexander City Baseball-Softball Association president) Chad Woods, and we will try to work it out that if a child wants to play both sports, we will try to schedule soccer and baseball/softball practices and games at different times. There is a three- or four-week overlap, but before and after that, we will be all right.

We'll be able to use the present baseball field as a practice field for awhile. As of right now, we don't have a practice baseball field with lights.

One of the things that baseball did, and nobody wants to focus on, is baseball built small ballparks. They made it easy to hit home runs. Look at Houston; their left field is a joke. Baseball played to the home run as if it was the only great event in the game.

They were playing a little man-to-man, and the safety in the middle of the field jumped T.J. (Houshmandzadeh), who was running across the field. Chad did a great job of getting a good release. In baseball, there's not a lot of home field advantage. Not unless the game is tied, then there is big home field advantage. But I really believe that. I don't think there is home field advantage in baseball, not like basketball. Anybody can come here and win and we can go anywhere and win. Good teams win.

Chad has a great arm, and he is very good at reading pitchers. He has worked very hard, and is very baseball mature.
