They tried White on Hatcher, and that would have been fine if it was just about keeping Hatcher from scoring. What Muhammad did, he made him use all the energy in the world and now you have Downey off the ball. I thought that was a big difference in the game, great strategy by Andy Kennedy.

We were doing quite well (defensively). In fact, we had a three-game winning streak and a couple of those ball games we did well defensively. I thought our team played a very good team defensive game. Hatcher had a great year and we played very well in front of Marty, but you can't get numbers like that without having an unbelievable performance from your goaltender. Marty deserves a lot of credit for that. He's the guy who a lot of time dictates a lot of the equation as the last line of defense.

I would have never thought that would have happened, but Coach Jarrett (Hatcher) saw potential there. Lawrence improved every year, and that's impressive to not have played on jayvee.

I realize Big East teams will be bigger at the guard position, but you can play those two at the same time because Muhammad is like a 2-guard anyway. If you have him and Downey in there, it takes some pressure off Downey. That's not a bad option off the bench - it certainly destroyed us.

We should be OK next year, but we have to replace Hatcher; that's going to be the key. He took a team that wasn't very good and made them good. I never got so much mileage out of a guy. He probably played more minutes than anybody in the league.
