en I hope it helps with the reclamation of some of the more distraught areas of the city.

en Surface mining has really gotten a bad rap over the past 50 years. They'll see a nicely done reclamation project. It's really a diverse habitat. It's because of the reclamation work that we can have elk.

en We need something that's going to work for the Appalachian states; any place there was mining before the 1970s, there's a real need for reclamation. And that money still only cleans up higher-priority sites; it doesn't even touch on all the non-coal quarries in need of reclamation.

en The State of Montana does not require the reclamation (of the mine itself), but the company has told us they will reclaim this. It's private ground, so any reclamation they would do is between the landowner and the company.

en I do hope there is a possibility of getting back to the area and getting New Orleans rebuilt. There's so many people in need of that city. It's a city of nostalgia, a city of hope. I hope all is not lost.

en The trick will be balancing how, on one hand, there probably shouldn't be a city there at all, with the other extreme, which is that it should be rebuilt exactly how it was. Most people, including myself, think it should be somewhere in between. I think the happy medium could be rethinking flood control, making the city more secure than it is now, but making it so that some areas outside the city, some of the marshy, rural areas, are just left to nature.

en These days, urban areas are more friendly than the smaller suburban communities because their leaders ? the mayors, the city councilors, the city managers ? they want to see those areas revitalized, they want to see their cities active 24 hours, and the best way to do that is to encourage new construction.

en Las Vegas has always gotten an F (in those areas). Someday I hope the city will quit criminalizing homelessness and they'll get off the list.

en The more I walk it, the more I realize there's less hope, ... But we still believe there is hope in some of the mall areas and some of the below-ground areas where enough strength stopped the pressure and there's a void that people could still be in.
