en There are faculty members there I know I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. They have taught me extremely valuable skills, and the best thing is I was able to utilize resources available to me for high school and my brief undergraduate career. There is a real push for high school ... to become more of a jumping board. With LCC I got my general education out of the way. Even if I flip majors, I am ahead of the game. And all of my credits are transferable to a four-year university.

en The University of California system has a significant history of bringing great jobs and opportunities to their respective regions. At one point Tulare County was in contention for the UC. We feel that it is good for Merced and the Valley, but we want one of our own.

en There were plenty of role models for us. My mother believed in education and she put all three of us through college at Grambling. She did not have a high school education, but it was something she impressed upon us. After I graduated, I left Texarkana for California, because I knew I could not get a job here. I was in business with certification and accounting, so I figured it was best to go out West. So I went there. It was still tough to get in that field, but things opened up for me.

en More opportunity now, because you don't have to get federal approval. I graduated from Lafayette High School. We had three black students. I got a great education. My sons are getting a better education, because they're learning more about the world around them.

en It's taken six hard months to negotiate this agreement and the teachers have never wavered in their commitment to maintaining the quality of education provided to children who attend kindergartens. This agreement meets their bottom line of ensuring that the quality of education is maintained at all kindergartens.
